Where things are

I've decided that to avoid losing my precious lecture notes, I'm going to upload them to several places.

I'll save them on my USB drive as usual, but I've also taken advantage of Google Docs. They'll be here as well, saved by date. As long as I keep everything updated, it should be okay.
For obvious reasons, I won't post essays and assignments here. That would be silly.

Almost there

So my first semester starts tomorrow. I'm still not actually registered yet, I have to attend late registration on Wednesday.

And my first Ladies' Choir and Socii Cantorum rehearsal is tomorrow night.

Should be interesting to be studying again. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little apprehensive.

Modules I'm taking this year

Level 2 is all core (compulsory) modules:

PSY219 - Neuroscience
PSY239 - Psychological Research Methods
PSY249 - Developmental Psychology and Individual Differences
PSY259 - Psychological Concepts and Skills

These four last the entire academic year, then I also have:

PSY241 - Cognitive Psychology in the Autumn semester
PSY242 - Social Psychology in the Spring semester

You may notice that I like to colour-code. I find it helps me to remember things, despite not being a very visual sort of person.

When I did psychology A Level, I found it very helpful to revise using mind-maps and diagrams and colours, probably because I find it very difficult to work that way and deeper processing means better retention (Craik and Lockhart, 1972).

The first post

To give you a bit of background about me, I'm a mature student (I'm 27) reading for a BSc in psychology at the University of Sheffield. This year I'll be repeating second year (Level 2) because I missed a lot of last year due to fibromyalgia.

I'm planning to use this blog for everything uni-related. Here you'll find my lecture notes, timetable, and related links.
